Our Kaumātua Health Grant assists kaumātua aged 55 years and over. The grant can be used for health-related expenses to help with maintaining or improving the health and wellbeing of our kaumātua. This includes:

• Optometry

• Dental

• Doctor/prescription fees

• Hearing aids

• Mobility equipment

Each applicant is limited to receiving up to a maximum or $500 per financial year. This grant is given as assistance, you will need to cover any remaining costs.

To be eligible for funding, applicants must:

• Be 55 years or older

• Be registered with Wairewa Rūnanga Inc. Soc. for at least 6 months.

• Provide all necessary supporting documents required to process the application.

Applications must provide:

• Current Financial Year Grant form (old forms will not be accepted).

• A receipt, written quote OR professional declaration from your health provider. Note: your receipt or quote must be dated from 1st July 2025.

• Proof of personal or supplier’s bank account details.

Please note:
Funds are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis until the budget is exhausted, and each application is considered individually. The Mana Tangata Pou can close the grants at any time.
