Our Group Structure

Our rūnanga is made up of interconnected parts, each playing a role in upholding the mana of our people, protecting our whenua and wai, and supporting whānau to thrive. Together, these parts form the Wairewa Rūnanga Group.

Wairewa Whānau
Our whānau are responsible for approving the overall strategic direction of the rūnanga and ensuring that all the other parts are working towards common goals and outcomes for Wairewa.

Wairewa Rūnanga Inc. Soc. Executive
Oversees governance and compliance, and ensures alignment with our Strategic Vision. The executive provides direction and guidance to the office and our entities, establishes policies, evaluates risks associated with priority initiatives, and assesses the effectiveness of implemented activities.

Te Kete o Wairewa
Our asset holding and investment company, wholly owned by Wairewa Rūnanga Incorporated. It plays a key role in growing our assets and ensuring economic sustainability for future generations.

The Office of Wairewa
Led by the Manahautū, the office executes the annual plan, manages day-to-day administration, and oversees financial and operational mahi. It is the first point of contact for whānau and manuhiri.

Wairewa Entities
Comprising various organisations either wholly or partially owned by Wairewa Rūnanga. While they have their own governance structures, they are accountable to the executive for delivering outcomes on behalf of the rūnanga.

Wairewa Representation
Members who represent Wairewa Rūnanga across external committees and boards, ensuring our voice is heard in wider forums.
