Our annual Whānau Planting Day is back – and this year we’re heading to Te Kaio for something a little special.

Join us on Saturday 26th September as we work together to plant around 1,000 pīngao back into the dunes at Te Kaio. Pīngao is a taoka species, highly valued by our weavers, and plays an important role in binding and protecting our coastal dunes.

Alongside the planting, there’ll be an opportunity to hear more about Tautoru Mautai kaupapa, connect with the whenua, and for those interested, take a short hīkoi up Te Kaio Valley to learn more about pest control and the different stages of regeneration.

This is a whānau-friendly day for Wairewa Rūnanga and Orion whānau, our community partners and friends.
